‘Bout Me
DOH is a vocalist and performing artist with an unrelenting interest in refining adventure: the ticklish path of blending experimental innovation with accessible but genuine entertainment. ‘
Deena graduated from The University of Texas with credits transferred from American University in DC. She was born during a Monsoon in Bangkok, Thailand but grew up mostly in Northern Virginia. DOH currently resides in Austin and works at Texas School For The Blind & Visually Impaired.
She has performed with New Music Coop, Gayle Gold, Nanobangbang, and most recently, Mongoose (an improv group dedicated to a twist on John Zorn’s COBRA). She is currently focused on the development of a new music project (in collaboration with Derrick Fore aka D4) called Shabu Saga.
She is a part of The Awthum Empire, Church of the Friendly Ghost, Co-Lab, and Austin Band Lotto.
DOH founded Tailless Cat Productions in 2004: a project to keep our mailbox alive and creating incentive for paper encounters) and Nanobangbang in 2008: a project based in variety that expands the creative community by re-contextualizing talented collaborators.
“Future plans involve opening a multi-functional studio / performing arts space where I can integrate my training in Alexander Technique and my experience throwing events, performing, working with creative peers and creative kids. This will be a place where many happenings are possible.” -doh2009-
