Currently, Deena lives in Washington DC, plays music, works at Washington Project For The Arts (WPA), and continues her study of Alexander Technique. She is enrolled in a three and half year Teacher Training program for Alexander Technique, an education process of examining habits and undoing patterns of tension.
Deena studied Conflict Resolution at American University and received a BA in English from The University of Texas. Debut performance, 2008, at the Mexican American Cultural Center (MACC) in Austin TX for The Universal Instrument, a show dedicated to the human voice presented by The New Music Coop. After seeing this performance, a SONY rep asked her to try out to do voices for a video game. She got the part of Donna Troy (Wonder Girl), and other characters, in the DC Universe Game. In 2011, after years of struggling with chronic pain, Deena developed The Meeting of 1,000 Gates, a performance practice journeying through static thinking and habitual tension, first presented at The New Media Art & Sound Summit at Salvage Vanguard Theatre. After discovering and studying The Alexander Technique, Deena began to find relief from her pain as she learned how to improve her own conditions. While she lived in Austin (almost ten years), Deena performed in Low Red Center, Gayle Gold, and founded NANOBANGBANG - a musical performance art collective that manifested nine happenings, serving as vehicles for new collaborations. She also administered self-published mail art and zines under the name Tailless Cats Productions and worked with children, teens, and young adults with disabilities at Texas School For The Blind & Visually Impaired.
